Final Game of the 2013 Regular Season: Army vs Navy

The first game between Army /Navy was played in 1880, with Navy emerging as the winner. They have played every year since, with the following 10 exceptions.  In 1893, following a Navy victory, an incident after the game almost led to a duel between a Rear Admiral and Brigadier General. As a result of that event, President Cleveland called a cabinet meeting, after which, the Secretary of the Navy, Hillary A. Herbert and Secretary of War, Daniel S. Lamont, issued orders that the respective Academies could play only home game. These orders effectively defused the situation, as the game was placed on hold (1894-1898) for five years . In 1909, a cadet, Eugene Byrne, died in a game against Harvard and as a result, Army cancelled the rest of their season. During WW I, the game was put on hold in 1917 and again, in 1918 and finally, in 1923-24, the games were cancelled when the Academies could not agree on eligibility rules for the players.

“The Event” was moved to Philadelphia in 1899 and has been played in the “City of Brotherly Love” (Greek Origins) for most of the 20th and 21st Centuries. When not in Philly, other host sites include the following cities and number of games played in these respective venues: (Philly: 83 games), 11 times in New York, Baltimore hoasted 4 contests, East Rutherford: 4 games, Annapolis & West Point: 4 each, & Chicago, Pasadena, & Princeton each have hosted a game.

This weekend’s game marks the 114th meeting between the Acadamies, Navy leads the series 57 (wins) 49 (loses) and 7 (ties). Sadly, since 1963, the teams have entered their annual battle with both squads having winning records only twice, 1996 and again, in 2010. The days of this game having national championship implications or the teams being national powers have long since faded into history. High academic standards, potential NFL career opportunities, weight and height limits, and military commitment upon graduation have greatly diminished the talent pool for the Academies.

Navy has won this game 12 straight times and five of the past seven have not been very close; 2006, 26-14; 2007, 38-3; 2008, 34-0; 2009, 17-3; & in 2010, 31-17. That said, the last 2 have been close, in the 2011 the game was 24-21 in the 4th Quarter, before Navy kicked a field goal to secure a 27-21 win & last year Army lost a hard fought game 17-13, a coastly fumble by the Cadets, on Navy’s 14 yard line …  late in the 4th quarter ended Army’s hopes!   This year, Navy is bowl eligible for the ninth time in ten years and has won 4 of its last 5 games, their only loss in this stretch was to Notre Dame, 38-34. Meanwhile, Army has lost 4 of their last 5 games, with only win in this stretch coming against, a weak, Eastern Michigan team, 50-25! Navy beat Air Force earlier in thwe season, 28-10 while Army fell to the Fly Boys, 42-24! This means that Navy, with a W, could win the Commander – in – Chief’s Trophy …. Army has not won the trophy since 1996!

Las Vegas has made Navy a 13 point favorite and I, for one, hope they got this one wrong!

I was really happy that the NCAA agreed to move this game back a week. America needs to celebrate the young men and women, who are willing to make the commitment and sacrifice a military career demands. It is absolutely fitting that the last regular season college football game be played between Army & Navy and played on a weekend, when all other FBS programs are idle and, hopefully, honoring their gridiron peers!

Yet, for the game to remain one of sport’s greatest rivalries,…..  Army needs to stand up this year and put an end to this 11 year nose-bleed…. or sadly…. the rivalry may go the way of national championships and top ten rankings. Go Army!

FCS Playoff 1st Round Results & 2nd Round Match-ups

People who want a D-I Tournament / Playoff should know … there already is one. The FCS has a 24 team playoff which began last weekend, 11/30/13. Eight teams received a Bye into the second round while 16 teams squared off in eight games. Here are the results of the first round and what’s up next in the 2nd round!

Lafayette, 5-7 overall / 4-1 in conference play, winner of the Patriot League traveled to New Hampshire, a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) runner-up @ 8-4 / 6-2. The Leopards (Lafayette) basically were handed their lunch by the Wildcats, a 45-7 whipping!. New Hampshire now moves on to Orono, Maine, to take on the CAA Champ, the Maine Bears 10-2 / 7-1, who had a first round bye, ….. on the Bears home field, Alfond Stadium! These teams played the last week of the season and New Hampshire handed Maine their only conference loss, 24-3!

Bethune-Cookman (10-3 / 7-1) a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) located in Daytona Beach, FL traveled to Conway, South Carolina to  challenge, Coastal Carolina, (11-2 & 4-1), the winner of the Big South Conference! B-C was out-scored by CC, 48-24! Coastal Carolina now heads west, to take on Montana, 10-2 / 6-2 from the Big Sky Conference, @ Grizzly Stadium!

Tennessee State 10-3 / 6-2 from the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) took on Butler, 9-4 / 7-1, champions of the Pioneer Conference, in Indianapolis @ the Butler Bowl! Tennessee State pounded the Bulldogs, 31-0. Up next for TSU is Eastern Illinois, 11-1 / 8-0, the OVC Champs, the Tigers will travel to Charleston, Il and play the Panthers on their home field, O’Brian Stadium! These teams met earlier in the year at LP Field, a game won by EIU, 34-16!

Sacred Heart (10-3 & 4-2), Northeast Conference Champion battled Fordham (12-1 / 5-1), from the Patriot League. The Pioneers fell to the Rams, 37-27 and now, Fordham heads to Towson, Maryland to take on the University of Towson (10-2 / 6-2), who tied for 2nd place in the CAA.

Furman (8-5 / 6-2) from the Southern Conference, located in Greendale, South Carolina challenged in-state rival, South Carolina State (9-4 / 7-1) A MEAC Team from Orangeburg, South Carolina! The Furman Paladins outscored the SC St. Bulldogs, 14-3 in the 3rd quarter and went on to win by a margin of 10, 30-20! Next up for the Paladins is a cross country trip to two-time defending FCS champ, North Dakota State (11-0 & 8-0) from the Missouri Valley (MVC)!

Southern Utah (8-5 / 5-3) a Big Sky Affiliate headed south and a little East to play Sam Houston State (9-4 / 4-3) a powerhouse from the Southland Conference. San Houston had their way with the out-manned Thunderbirds, 51-20!  The Bearkats now head for Louisiana, to take on SE Louisiana (10-2 / 7-0), the champions of the Southland conference! In a game played earlier this year, Sam Houston State lost to the Lions, 34-21, turnovers were the difference in the game, as the Lions forced the Bearkats to give the ball up on 3 occasions while not dropping the rock at all!

South Dakota State (9-4 / 5-3) from the MVC took on Northern Arizona (9-3 / 7-1) from the Big Sky Conference. The game was tied at half 7 all, but it was all Jackrabbits in the second half, as they scored 19 unanswered point to win pulling away, 26-7! SD State now heads west to take on another Big Sky Team, Eastern Washington, (10-2 / 8-0) the Champions of the Big Sky Conference! Eastern Washington and Northern Arizona did not meet on this year’s conference schedule … so no common opponent to use for comparison!

Samford (8-5 / 6-2) from the Southern Conference (SOCON) traveled to Jacksonville, Alabama to take on Jacksonville State (10-3 / 5-3) from the OVC! A bad idea, as the J-State Gamecocks hammered the Bulldogs, 55-14! The Gamecocks now head for Lake Charles, LA to take on McNeese State (10-2 / 6-1), the 2nd place Team of the Southland Conference!

This is a great Tournament and to well kept of a secred! Make sure you work some of there games into your TV football schedule … I think you will be surprised by the high quality of play!

Enjoy the Games!

Sully’s CFP: Six Pack of Winners; Week Fourteen

# 6 Pick; Blatz, Milwaukee’s Finest… ND @ Stanford +15… (5 Dimes)  This marks the 17th straight year these teams have met! The last two times the Irish have been @ Stanford Stadium, in 2009, they lost, 45-35 & in 2011, the Irish fell, 28-14, to Andrew Luck & Company! Last year, ND won in OT, 20-13, as they stopped the Cardinal in four attempts inside the 5 yard line. These teams have 2 common opponents in USC & ASU; ND has beaten both of these teams ASU 37-34 & SC 14-10, while the Cardinal split with them, beating ASU 42-28 & falling to USC 20-17! Sully’s CFP Says: Stanford wins but does not cover… Take the Irish & the 15 points!

# 5 Pick: Miller Lite .. Great Taste Less Filling … Tennessee @ Kentucky +3.5 (Bookmaker)… This marks the 12 straight year that the Vols & Wildcats have met in their season finale. Tennessee’s 75 wins vs Kentucky is the most victories the Volunteers have against any opponent in the SEC or anywhere else for that matter! Vols have beaten Kentucky in 4 of their last 5 meetings and have split their last 2 games in Kentucky’s Commonwealth Stadium! The Cats enter this game with a 2-9 record having lost 8 of their last 9 contests! Sully’s CFP Says: Take the Vols and give the Cats the 3.5 points!

# 4 Pick: Bud Lite … Here We Go! … Arizona @ Arizona State -13.5 (Matchbook): The home team has dropped 4 straight in this series. Last year, ASU trailed, 27-17, heading into the 4th quarter and then scored 24 unanswered points, before UA was able to respond, ASU won, 41-34. UA is coming off a big win last Saturday over Oregon, 42-16, while ASU beat UCLA, 38-33, in the Rose Bowl, to win the PAC 12 South! In the last 4 meetings the margin of victory has been 3 in 2009, 1 in OT in 2010, 4 points in 2011, and 7 last year! Sully’s CFP Says: Take Arizona and the 13.5 points!

# 3 Pick: Michelob … Crafting a Better Beer… Boston College @ Syracuse +2 (The Greek): The last time these teams met was in 2010, BC beat the Orange 16-7, that said, the Eagles have not done well at the Carrier Dome, 3-13 over the years. BC is hot having won 4 games in a row, including last week’s defeat of Maryland, 29-28! Syracuse has lost its last two games, a 59-3 spanking by Florida State & last week, lost to Pitt @ home, 17-16! Boston’s RB, Andre Williams, is now second on ESPN Heisman Watch! Sully’s CFP Says: Take BC and give the “Cuse” the 2 points!

# 2 Pick: Harp, An Irish Lager. Drink with the Angels … Fresno State @ San Jose State +7: (SBR Sportsbook) NOTE …  Friday Game!!:  Fresno State has won 16 of the last 18 games in this series. The Spartans have lost 4 of their last five games while Fresno comes into the game unbeaten, 10 wins to zero defeats! Enough said! Sully’s CFP Says: Take Fresno and give San Jose State the 7 points!

#1 Pick: Guinness … Here’s to Life … Florida State @ Florida …  O/U 44 (Pinnacle): Last year the Gators beat the Seminoles, 37-26, the point being … last year the Florida defense was great and FSU still put a 26 point spot on them! This year, the Florida ‘D’ has been hurt by injury and worse by an inept offense! Florida has lost 6 straight … that right … 6 in a row. The Gators in this stretch have given up 138 points in their last five games or 27.6 points per game! This includes last week’s loss to Georgia Southern, 26-20, an FCS team with 4 losses to other FCS teams! Meanwhile, FSU heads to Gainesville, with an 11-0 record and a shot at playing in the BCS National Championship Game with a win on Saturday! Finally, are you ready for this? … The fewest points the Noles have scored this year, in any game, … is 41 … let me say it again … FORTY ONE!!!  Sully’s CFP Says: Take the Over and head for the Casino … it’s your lucky Day!!!

Sully’s CFP is 41-37 vs the Spread … 6-0 Last Week!!!

Best Games of Week 13

TJL is a Blogger on Sully’s CFP

College Football Week 13 Preview
TJL’s Top 5 Games!

(4)Baylor @ (10)Oklahoma St.

Baylor heads into Stillwater, Oklahoma undefeated.  Averaging almost 62 points per game!  Baylor QB Bryce Petty is having a phenomenal season throwing for 24TD’s and only 1INT!  Baylor is also averaging 300 yards on the ground this season.  I’ll take the Bears over what I think is an overrated Oklahoma St. any day.  Take the Bears by 30.  51-21.

(8)Missouri @ (24)Ole Miss
The Tigers will head into Oxford this week hoping to get a big win over SEC opponent Ole Miss.  The Rebels have suffered 3 losses this season all to very good SEC opponents. (Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M)  Meanwhile the Tigers are having a surprising great season, with a record of 9-1!  Expect a very tight game ‘till the end.  I’m taking Missouri, 41-35.

(12)Texas A&M @ (22)LSU

The Aggies are headed to Baton Rouge, to face a struggling Les Miles-Coached team.  The Tigers have dropped three games this season to Alabama, Georgia, and Ole Miss.  All of those SEC rivals.  A loss here to A&M could push them out of the Top-25!  The Aggies, led by star player Johnny Manziel are on a roll, and are looking very good.  However, I think the Tigers are going to give it all, and fight ‘till the end.  Take LSU in a close one, 38-37.

(17)Arizona St. @ (14)UCLA
If the Sun Devils have any chance at playing in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day, they will have to take down 14th ranked UCLA Saturday.  The 19th-ranked Sun Devils can clinch the Pac-12 South Division with a victory over No. 14 UCLA on Saturday.  The Sun Devils are 10th in the nation at scoring, and are a determined bunch.  Take Arizona St. in the minor upset at Pasadena, 30-21.

(19)Wisconsin @ (25)Minnesota
The Badgers head over to Minnesota to take on the Gophers.  This exciting Big 10 matchup contains Wisconsin’s phenomenal rushing game, averaging 308 yards per game!  Wisconsin’s defense is also very good, only allowing 14 points per game.  Both teams are 8-2, and are rolling.  Even though Wisconsin has both its losses on the road, take the over the Gophers.  48-35.

(Have any questions?  Leave them below!  I’ll be happy to explain to you why I’m right!)

Sully’s CFP: Six Pack of Winners; Week Thirteen

# 6 Pick; Blatz, Milwaukee’s Finest … BYU @ ND +1: The Irish season took a “left turn” 2 weeks ago by falling to an unranked Pitt Team, 28-21, @ Heinz Field. This lost ended any outside chance ND had for a shot at a BCS Bowl. BYU also lost post-season momentum that same weekend by falling to Wisconsin, 27-17, in Madison! Last week, the Cougars hammered Idaho State, 59-13, a Big Sky member and FCS affiliate. BYU is 2-5 all time vs the Irish, 1-4 @ Notre Dame Stadium, with the average score, ND 31 BYU 18! The Irish are coming off a BYE Week, look for ND to give BYU a heavy dose of Tarean Folston, their freshman running back and better play from QB Tommy Rees! Sully’s CFP Says: Take the Irish, the Point & Home Field!

# 5 Pick: Miller Lite .. Great Taste Less Filling … Nebraska @ Penn State -2: Penn State comes into this game with 6 wins & 4 losses overall … and 3 & 3 in the Big Ten. Nebraska is coming off a tough loss to MSU, 41-28 last weekend, that essentially ended their hopes for a Legends Division Title. That said, Nebraska was able to rush the ball against that vaunted Spartan defense for 182 yards. This marked the 1st time this season that a team was able to run the ball for over 100 yards vs MSU! The Nittany Lions are a scholarship depleted roster and the wear and tear of the season (on this roster) will be evident on Saturday, as the Big Ten’s leading rusher, Ameer Abdullah, runs up and down the field @ Beaver Stadium! Sully’s CFP Says: Take the Huskers and the points vs the Nittany Lions!

# 4 Pick: Bud Lite … Here We Go! ..Wisconsin @ Minnesota +15.5: Finally, the Gophers & Badgers meet in a game that has meaning; both teams are alive for their respective division titles, a Big Ten Championship, & berth in the Rose Bowl. The Gophers need Northwestern to beat MSU while they beat Wisconsin @ home & MSU next week in Spartan Stadium! The Badgers, Leaders Division & Big Ten Championship chances are remote, they need to win out, while OSU has to lose to Indiana @ the Shoe and the following week @ the Big House to that team “Up North”! But getting to the Rose Bowl is much more likely, it is dependent on the Bucks getting to the BCS National Championship Game and Wisconsin being ranked higher then Michigan State in the final BCS Poll. This is the 100th Rose Bowl & its officials have stated clearly, that they want a Big Ten / PAC 12 match-up! While the Badgers do not control their own fate … they remain alive … as long as they continue to win! Minnesota comes into the Game with a 8-2 record overall & 4-2 in Big Ten play, while the Badgers are 5-1 in the conference and sport an identical 8-2 overall record! The Gopher will enter TCF Bank Stadium carrying the burden of a nine game losing streak in the series. Emotions will be high between the rivals! Sully’s CFP Says: The Badgers will win but not cover… Take the Gophers and the 15.5!

# 3 Pick: Michelob … Crafting a Better Beer… Baylor @ Oklahoma State +10: This game will determine the Big 12 Championship, as the Bears & Pokes are the league’s best teams. Baylor has beaten only one team this season that has a winning record in that team’s home stadium … Kansas State, 35-25! If the Bears are able to beat OSU and cover the 10, there is an excellent chance that they will jump Ohio State in the BCS Rankings. That said, this will be their biggest hurdle for the remainder of their regular season, @ TCU, a 7 loss team & Texas @ home, who just lost to OSU, 38-13 in Stillwater! Sully’s CFP Says: Take OSU, the 10 points at home, & watch the Poke’s win outright!

#2 Pick: Harp, An Irish Lager. Drink with the Angels. Missouri @ Ole Miss:  +3: Missouri may have the best receivers in the country, Dorial Green-Beckham, 6’6″, Marcus Lucas, 6’5″ & Darius White 6’3″. If this is not enough to concern the Rebels, the Tigers have just announced that James Franklin, their injured QB, has been cleared to play and will start on Saturday! Prior to the injury, Franklin had thrown for over 1500 yards, 14 TD and 3 picks! If Missouri wins out they will represent the SEC East in the Conference Championship Game … not bad for a team that was told last year that they belonged in the Big Ten … not the “Mighty SEC”  Sully’s CFP Says: Take the Tigers and Give the Rebels the 3 points!

#1 Pick: Guinness … Here’s to Life … Duke @ Wake Forest +5: Duke comes in the Wake game with a 4-2 ACC record, having won four conference games in a row and in control to the win the Coastal Division it they beat Wake Forest in Winston-Salem & UNC the following week in Chapel Hill! The Blue Devils are 8-2 overall while the Demon Deacons are 4-6 overall & 2-4 in conference play! David Cutcliffe has to be among the favorites to win “Coach of the Year” honors. These next two weeks are the most important in recent Duke Football history … to maybe … ever! Sully’s CFP Says: Take the Devils and give the Demons the 5 points!

Sully’s CFP is currently 35-37 against the Spread!

Sully’s CFP: Six Pack of Winners; Week Twevle

# 6 Pick; Blatz, Milwaukee’s Finest … Purdue @ Penn State O/U 44.5: Purdue is 1-8 heading into Happy Valley. In 6 of their 8 losses, they have given up 42, 31, 41, 55, 56, & 38 … simply put … they do not play defense! Meanwhile, PSU, 5-4, even with its depleted roster (67 scholarship players) will be able to score & score often on the Boilers! That said, given PSU condition, Purdue will be able to put points on the board this week … on a worn down Nittany Lion defense! Sully’s CFP says: Take the over and enjoy a Blatz!

# 5 Pick: Miller Lite .. Great Taste Less Filling … TX Tech @ Baylor O/U 85: C’on on Vegas, 85!!!! Baylor’s defense has held opponents the past three weeks to: 7 ISU, 14 Kansas, & 12 Oklahoma, clearly, TX-Tech is better than ISU & Kansas, but not Oklahoma, to whom they lost, 38-30! Look for a score in the low 70’s! Sully’s CFP Says: Take the Under & have another Lite!

# 4 Pick: Bud Lite … Here We Go! … Utah @ Oregon O/U 64: Oregon is angry, they had their manhood handed to them or better said, shoved down their throats by Stanford last week. Look for the Ducks to come out and score as many points as they can and play this game as if their BCS lives depended on a huge win … & … it does! This is the 1st conference meeting between the Utes & Ducks and it will not be pretty! Sully’s CFP Says: Take the Ducks, the Over  … and Here We Go!

# 3 Pick: Michelob … Crafting a Better Beer… West Virginia -7 @ Kansas: Charlie’s Kansas team is bad, 1-8, & their one win came on opening day against South Dakota, 31-14, an FCS team from the Missouri Valley Conference! The last three weeks they have been outscored by Baylor, 59-14, Texas, 35-13 & Oklahoma State, 42-6! Meanwhile, West Virginia is playing better after a very poor start to the 2013 season; in their last two games, they beat TCU in OT, 30-27 & lost to Texas, 47-40, in OT as well! Sully’s CFP Says: Take WV, give the 7 points, & enjoy a Crafted Beer!

# 2 Pick: Harp, An Irish Lager. Drink with the Angels … UCF -16.5 @ Temple: UCF is a BCS bound football team, whose only blemish this season is a 28-25 lost to a South Carolina, a team that is still in the hunt for an East Division crown & a berth in the SEC Championship game. Temple, unlike Kansas who managed a win, has not won a single game this year. Last weekend, they actually played a close game with Rutgers, 23-20, this was a bad idea! George O’Leary, UCF’s HC, was looking for something to get his team’s attention … so as to focus on an 0-9 team !!! The Owls did it for him by playing the Scarlet Knights so close … Sully’s CFP Says: Take the Knights, give the Owls the 16.5, & have one with the Angles!

#1 Pick: Guinness … Here’s to Life … Stanford -3.5 @ USC: The Cardinal have beaten the Trojans four straight times, in 2009, 55-21, 37-35 in 2010, 56-48 in 3 OT’s in 2011, & last year, 21-14! While USC has played better since the firing of Lane Kiffin, winning 4 of 5, they have not faced an opponent near the quality of a Stanford! Not only are the Cardinal the favored (after beating Oregon) to win the North Division & the PAC 12 Championship, they still are alive (somewhat) in their pursuit of a berth in the BCS National Championship Game! Sully’s CFP Says: Take the Cardinal, give SC the 3.5, & enjoy a Guinness & Life

Sully’s CFP is currently 33-33 against the Spread!!

Sully’s CFP: Six Pack of Winners; Week Eleven

Notre Dame @ Pitt 4: ND has played Service Academies in back to back weeks and its defensive players concern about knee injuries & NFL careers are over. The healing power of this will be mystical …   Sully’s CFP Says… Take the Irish and give Pitt the points

Oklahoma @ Baylor -15: The Bears have played no one like the Sooner’s … 15 is way to many …Sully’s CFP Says … Take the Points and Oklahoma

Auburn @ Tennessee 7:  Auburn may have the best running attack in the country (given their results and competition) The Vols will not be able to stop the Tigers running assault …  Sully’s CFP Says… Take the Tigers and give the Vols the the 7

Virginia Tech @ Miami -6.5:  Miami bounces back even without Duke Johnson & pounds a hapless Va Tech …Sully’s CFP Says… Take the Canes and give the Hokies the 7!

Kansas State @ Texas Tech -3: Texas Tech wins by at least two scores @ home … Sully’s CFP Says Tech covers the 3 at home

LSU @ Alabama -15:  Mettenberger, Hill and the Tigers are one of the few teams in the country that are not intimidated by the Tide…  Sully’s CFP Says… LSU and 15 is a winner!

Posted in Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Kansas State, LSU, Miami FL, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech |

Sully’s CFP: Six Pack of Winners; Week Ten

# 6 Pick; Blatz, Milwaukee’s Finest ….Ohio State @ Purdue +31:  OSU has not won in West Lafayette in six years and the Boilers & Bucks have split the last 4 games and in fact, Purdue should have won 3 of the last four!! Last year at the Shoe’, Purdue led 22-14 with 47 seconds left to play and Braxton Miller was out with an injury. Kenny Guiton’s last minute heroics saved the day for the Bucks! Purdue has had two weeks to get ready for this game and these Purdue players have had success against OSU! Sully’s CFP says; take the points, Purdue and Boil-up!

# 5 Pick: Miller Lite .. Great Taste Less Filling … Miami @ Florida State -22:  FSU & Miami players are all to familiar with one another, their will be little to no intimidation in this encounter, just a ton of trash being spewed. In the last five meetings, while FSU has won 4, they covered this 22 point spread once, in 2010, 45-17! Last year, FSU won 33-20; in 2011, FSU 23 Miami 19, in 2009 Miami won, 38-34; & in 2008, FSU 41 Miami 39! Sully’s CFP page says: FSU wins but does not cover… Take the 22 & the Canes!

# 4 Pick: Bud Lite … Here We Go! Minnesota @ Indiana -9.5: This game is usually played because it is scheduled … meaning it has no meaningful part to play in the conference race and little to very little interest for Big Ten fans. Not this time! Indiana comes into the contest with the 10th best offense in the country & Minnesota is 6-2 with a major victory over Nebraska last week, 34-23. Sully’s CFP says; 9.5 is to many, take the Gophers & the points

# 3 Pick: Michelob … Crafting a Better Beer … Navy @ ND O/U 48.5:   ND comes into this game having scored 50 and 56 against Navy in their last two meetings. Navy scored 41 against Indiana, 44 against Toledo, and upset Pitt last week, 24-21! Sully’s CFP says, Take the over and book another trip to Ireland!

# 2 Pick: Harp, An Irish Lager;.. Drink with the Angels .. Illinois @ PSU  -10 Penn State will show up in this game with a quiet determination to remind Coach Beckman & the Illini how they kicked them (the Lions being kicked by the Illini) when they were down for the sanction count last year. You may not remember, but Coach O’Brien has clear memories of Illinois coming to Pennsylvania to try and influence PSU players to transfer to Champaign. Contrast that with Northwestern’s Coach saying they supported PSU recovery and would not be actively recruiting any players from PSU. After last year’s game (a 35-7 pounding of Illinois by Penn State) O’Brien refused to shake hands with Beckman and now the Illini team travels to Happy Valley to play in front of 106,000 avenging souls. Sully’s CFP says; Take PSU and give the Illini the ten!

#1 Pick: Guinness … Here’s to Life ..Virginia Tech -4.5 @ BC:  Virginia Tech is coming off a tough loss to Duke, 13-10, the Hokies had beaten Duke 10 straight by an average of 21 points. BC is coming off a 34-10 tail whipping by UNC, a team that Va Tech beat earlier in the year, 28-13. Sully’s CFP says; take the Hokies and give the Eagles the 4.5!

Sully’s CFP is currently 30-24 against the Spread
