Big Ten Review Week Two
Illinois 1-1: welcomed Duke to Champaign, however the Blue Devils were not a gracious guest, taking down the Illini, 31-27!
Indiana 2-0: The Hoosiers took on Howard University (an HBCU school) who plays in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). IU overwhelmed the Bison, 57-0!
Iowa 2-0: Lined up against in-state rival Iowa State, the game per usual was a “fist fight”! The Hawks prevailed 16-13 on a last second FG!
Maryland 2-0: The Terps kicked-it-off vs U-Conn! ‘Fear the Turtle’ became the actual theme of the game, as Maryland beat Huskies, 38-14
Michigan 2-0: the Wolverines got-it-on with Oklahoma! The Wolves were a 5.5-point dog, say what? With the Big House rock-in, MU took down OU, 17-10!
MSU 2-0: Got-after Eastern Michigan, a MAC Team. The Spartans had little trouble with their in-state opponent, winning, 35-7!
Minnesota 1-1: The Gophers did not lose a home game in 2025, ran into a buzz-saw named Mississippi State and were cut down, 38-13!
Nebraska 2-0: Got-it-on with Bowling Green, a MAC Team. The Huskers scored early & often, wiping out the overmatched Falcons, 56-7!
Northwestern 1-0: Had a BYE Week, after winning their opener vs FCS powerhouse, South Dakota State, 34-18!
Ohio State 1-1: Traveled down to the ‘Lone Star State’ to take on Texas. The Bucks led by 20 it the 4th, yet could stop the Horns who battled back, winning 24-23!
Oregon 1-1: The absolute shocker of week 2, The Cowboys, who had lost 12 straight games, upset the Ducks, 39-31!
Penn State 2-0: Played near-by Temple, a vastly improved team from the American Conference. However, the Lions did the taming, winning 27-9!
Purdue 1-1: The Boilers lost a heart-braker to Wake Forest, 38-36, in 2 OTs! Purdue is on a mission to become bowl eligible in 26’, a tuff loss to the that end!
Rutgers 0-2: The Scarlet Knights are off to a rough start in 2026. Losing their opener to U-Mass, 37-21 & then falling to BC in week 2, 28-21!
UCLA 2-0: The Bruins are off to a great start in 26’. Outscoring a very good Cal team, 45-24 & controlling a skilled San Deigo state outfit, 28-10!
USC 3-0: USC was the only B-10 team to play week 0. They have yet to take on a P4 opponent, swapping ND for SJSU. The Trojans beat Louisiana, 49-30, last week
Washington 2-0: The Huskies have struggled in their 1st 2 games of 26’. They beat in-state rival, WSU, 24-10 and then survived Utah State, 18-16!
Wisconsin 1-1: The Badgers battled, highly regarded, Notre Dame to a standstill in the 1st half before the Irish depth took control. UW routed WIU, 36-9, in week II!
B-10 Preview: Week Three
Southern IL 2-1 @ Illinois 1-1: The Illini have played their Southern Neighbor, the SIU (Salukis) on 4 occasions / U of I leads the series, 4-0-0 / 1st Played in 1985, IL struggled, yet won, 28-25 / Last met in 2013, the Illini won, 35-7 / Salukis play in the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) / Southern Illinois (SIU) did not make the FCS Tourney in 2025, yet, they did pound Illinois State, in Normal, IL, 35-7, in their final game of 2025 / The Salukis finished 6-5, in ’25 / It should be noted that Illinois State (ISU) lost to Montana State, in the FCS Championship Game, 35-34 in OT / A clear indication that SIU (beating ISU, 35-7, in their season finale) can play at a high level! Favorite: IL -38.5 / TV: Peacock 11:30
Western Kentucky 0-2 @ Indiana 2-0: IU & WKU have met 5 times / Indiana leads the series, 5-0-0 / 1st played in 2008, IU won, 31-13, in Bloomington / Last played in 2022, Indiana won again, 33-30, in Bloomington, IN / In fact, all 5 games have been played @ Memorial Stadium, with 1 exception, the 2021 game was played, in Bowling Green, KY / The Hilltoppers lost a close game, 33-31! Favorite: IU -44.5 / TV: Peacock 3:00
Northern Iowa 1-1 @ Iowa 2-0: The Hawkeyes & Panthers have played 18 times / Iowa leads the series, 17-1-0 / 1st met in 1898, UNI’s only win in the series, by an 11 to 5 score (UNI was known then as (Iowa State Normal School) / Since that 1898 game, Iowa has won 17 straight (including a 95-0 blasting in 1914) Last played in 2018, IA won, 38-14! Virginia Tech 2-0 @ Maryland 2-0: MD & VT have played 32 times / Maryland leads the series, 17-15-0 / 1st Played in 1919, VA Tech won, 6-0, in College Park / Last 10 (1949 thru 2021) / The teams have split the series @ 5 games apiece / Longest Win Streak: Maryland 6 (1946 thru 1990) VT 5 (1922 thru 1926) / Largest Margin of Victory (MOV), Maryland 56 (63-7 in 1950) the Hokies 49 (55-6 in 2004) Last played in 2021, Maryland won, 54-10! MSU 2-0 @ ND 2-0: Notre Dame leads the series 47-29-1 / Last Played in 2017, ND won, 38-16 / The Irish have won 4 of the last 5 / 1st met in 1897, ND won, 34-6, in South Bend / Last 10: (2004 thru 2017) Teams have split at 5 apiece (it should be stated the Irish wins, in 2012 & 2013 were vacated by the NCAA) / Longest win Streak MSU 8 (1955 thru 1963) ND 8 (1897 thru 1909) Largest Margin of Victory (MOV) ND 53 (1898) MSU 35 (1951)! Akron 1-1 @ Minnesota 1-1: Surprisingly, MN & Akron have never met on the Gridiron / Zips play in the MAC (Mid-American Conference) and given the number of games the B-10 plays vs the MAC, interesting that the teams have never crossed paths / Last year (2025) Akron just missed bowl eligibility, going 5-7 (6 wins needed for a bowl appearance) / Akron played one P4, in 2025, Nebraska, lost 68-0! / Favorite: MN -23.5 / TV: BTN 11:00
Colorado 2-0 @ Northwestern 2-0: NW & CO have played only twice (The series is tied at one apiece), The teams 1st met in 1951, in Evanston, the Cats won, 35-14 / Did not meet again for 27 years, this time, in Boulder, CO / The Golden Buffalos won, 55-7 / Colorado now competes in the B12 and went where they went 3-9 in 2025 / Last played a B-10 team was in 2023, lost to Nebraska, 28-10, in Lincoln! / It should be noted; the Buffs won the National Championship in 1990! Kent State 1-1 @ Ohio State 1-1: OSU & Kent State have met three times / The Buckeyes have won all three games / 1st Played in 2002, OSU won, 51-17, played again in 2007, The Bucks blasted Golder Flashes, 48-3 / Last played in 2014, this time Bucks annihilated the KSU, 66-0 / Favorite: OSU -52.5 / TV: FOX 11:00 a.m.
Portland State 0-3 @ Oregon: 1-1 (Friday Nite) The teams have played 5 games / All the games have been in Eugene / The closest game in this series was in 1983 (1st Games played between the schools) 41-26 / In the last 3 meetings, the Ducks have outscored the Vikings, 213 to 21 / An average MOV of 70 points (an average score of, 77-7) The Ducks won, 63-14 in 2008, 69-0 in 2010, & 81-7 in 2023) Favorite: Oregon 58.5 / TV: BTN 9;30 P.M.
Buffalo 1-1 @ Penn State 2-0: Buffalo has taken on Penn State on 4 occasions / PSU leads the series, 3-1-0 / The Bulls play in the MAC & were bowl ineligible in 2025 @ 5-7 / 1st played in 1900, Buffalo won, 10-0 / Last played in 2019, The Nittany Lions won, 45-13, @ State College! Purdue 1-1 @ UCLA 2-0: Purdue & UCLA have played 5 games over the years / The Bruins lead the series, 3-0-2 / Teams 1st played in 1950, UCLA won, 26-0 in West Lafayette, IN / Last played in West Lafayette, IN. UCLA won, 23-14, in 1980 / The Boilers & Bruins played in back-to-back ties (1959) 0 to 0, in Los Angeles, CA & in 1960, 27-27 in West, Lafayette / UCLA’s largest MOV is 14 points (20-6 in 1950 / The Bruins are on a 2-game win streak (1979 thru 1980)! Eastern Washington 1-2 @ Washington 2-0: The Washington Huskies & The Eastern Washington Eagles have met on a FB Field, 3 times / WA leads the series, 3-0-0 / 1st played in 2011, The Huskies survived, 30-27, in Seattle / Played again, in 2014, EWU battled and yet lost a high scoring thriller, 59-52 / Finally, in 2019, UW was able to win comfortably, 47-14 / EWU plays in the Big SKY, a respected conference in the FCS (Football Championship Subdivision)! Eastern Wisconsin 1-1 @ Wisconsin 1-1: The Badgers lead the all-time series, 4-0. The team’s 1st played in 1991, UW 21 EMU 6. They last played in 2021, Bucky 35 Eagles 7. All 4 games were played in Madison, WI! Favorite: UW -23.5 / TV: Peacock 11:30
