| The recruiting chart presented below is a 4 year composite of ESPN’s, 247 Sports, & Rivals’ respective scoring systems. The recruiting classes used were 2020 thru 2023. We take each site and calculated a 4 year team average, specific to that site’s criteria used to evaluate a program’s recruiting. As a result, Rival’s evaluation scores were calculated independently and are, in fact, different from the rankings of ESPN &/or 247 Sports. The number listed is the average rank a team earned on that site over a 4 year period. Thus, Alabama’s average class rank in Rivals during that time frame (2020 – 2023) was 1.75 / best on Rivals and remained the highest/best recruiting program in the country, when 247 Sports (1.5) & ESPN (1.75) are factored into the Matrix! Georgia (UGA/Dawgs), in that same time frame, earned a 2.25 average rank on ESPN, 2.25 according to 247 Sports calculations, 3.0 on Rivals, and settling on a composite score of 2.50 … 2nd best in the nation! These Southeastern powers were followed by Ohio State, with a composite of (4.2), LSU (6.6), & Clemson rolling in @ 5th place with a composite score of (7.4). That said, do not overlook the Transfer Portal, as it can significantly impact a roster & a season’s result! Michigan State went 2-5 in 2020 and then a shocking 11-3 in 2021, with only the 42nd ranked recruited class, on ESPN, for the 2021 season. So how the growth? Simple, the Spartans brought in 20 plus transfers and it changed everything about their roster, allowing them to go from 2-5 to 11-3! Ok, so now with that in mind! Now back to our assessment of Recruited Classes! We then take the three independent scores and calculated a three site/four year composite. Please note, the teams listed below are Power 5 Conference teams only, with Army & ND added into the count. The Southeastern & Big Ten Conferences identify these two (2) teams as power 5 programs for scheduling purposes. As a result, we added Army (ND was a founding member) creating a total of 70 teams that are assessed! |
