Recruiting Rankings
Sully's College Football Page (SCFP) recruiting data is based on three sites: ESPN, 247 Sports, & Rivals. We calculate a 4 year average in each site (Independent of one another) we then take the 4 year average of each site, add them together, and then we divide that total by three (3) to get a composite score.
Some of the results are/were quite susprising/Interesting: 1) Indiana is the #1 seed in the CFP, yet their four year composit recruiting rank places then as the 53rd best recruiting program? Clearly from their ranking, they would need to win the B10 to enter the CFP, they did ... yet the #1 seed out of the53rd best recruiting class? (Portal / Coaching / Player Developmemt) Impressive! 2) According to recruiting class team ratings; Texas, LSU, Notre Dame & USC should have made the field, they did not ... 3) while,Texas A&M, Ole Miss, & Texas Tech, according to their recruiting rank, to make the CFP, should have had to win their respective conference.... they did not! In fact, they battled their way in as At-Large qualifiers! .Finally, under Marcus Freeman, the Irish continue to improve their team rank, the Irish are now the 7th best recruiting program in the country. However, ND failed to make the CFP, due to 2 early losses to Miami & Texas A&M, that apparently were to much for 10 straighrt wins to overcome? On SCFP, we take a very different track on the Irish, until the Freeman Era, the 'Talking Heads' on ESPN, CBS Sports and on, have tended to "howl at the moon" on how "Overrated" the Irish are, ... while we tended to follow a different trek, we have for several years now looked upon the Irish as under-achievers, especially in big games ... not overrated! At least the National Media has figured out, that ND is really good (& were under Kelly) as opposed to overrated! Finally, in my humdle opinion, there is a "hole in the CFP", due to the absence of Notre Dame!
All that said, check it out below and see what conclusions you draw from the data?
