Ohio State is now the winningest (via percentage) program of the 131 teams playing in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). Last year OSU was tied with Notre Dame, both teams had a winning percentage of 73.39%. The Bucks went 11-2 in 2022 while the Irish compiled a 9-4 slate, leaving the Bucks, all alone at the top, as the all time leader in winning percentage!

Some other interesting facts as presented by winning percentage: 1) Alabama, Michigan & Boise State round out the top 5; 2) Texas & OU are only separated by 2 wins (TX 936 OU 934) yet the Sooners have lost 52 fewer games (OU 338 TX 390); 3) Nebraska, a program that has struggled mightily, in recent years, is ranked only one spot (9) behind the mighty Trojans (8) of USC, & 4) how about the great state of Florida, having 3 of their Universities (FSU 11th, Miami 17th, & Florida 18th) ranked in the top 20!

As conferences go, per usual, the Southeastern Conferences leads the way, with 6 programs (The Tide, The Volunteers, UGA, LSU, Florida, & Auburn) counted within that 20 number. The Big Ten is well represented with four programs (The Ohio State. the Wolverines, the Huskers, & the Nittany Lions) all making the cut! Further, the ACC’s current power, Clemson has ascended to the 20th spot, and finally, 3 Group of 5 (G5) teams are found in that top 20 mix ( #5 Boise State, #15 Coastal Carolina, & #17 Appalachian State).

A couple of other points of interest that are listed here, yet not related to winning percentage: 1) Rutgers has played more games (1395) than any other FBS Program while IU (Indiana) has lost more games, 704, than any other FBS squad. The Hoosiers are followed by Northwestern’s 698 & Rutgers’ 689 … not a great look for the B-10! Yet, on Sully’s College Football Page (SCFP) we view it through a different lens ” the B-10 is a hard place to win games! Enjoy the data!
