SCFBP Coaches Hot Seat – 2013 Edition

In this blog we will take a look at a few coaches that we view as being in danger of losing their job, be it due to poor performance on the field, or in at least one case, ostracizing oneself from an entire fanbase.  Starting off our list is….

Not only has this imbecile overseen 17 straight Big Ten losses for the illini, but he has also had a comedy of errors on the sideline as well.  Last season he was caught chewing tobacco on the sideline (pictured above), which is a NCAA violation, not to mention an embarrassment to the university. Illinois has repeatedly been pantsed by opponents over the past two years, losing by an average score of 39-13.  I haven’t seen a less disciplined team over the past five years – Illinois is just bad right now.  Want an example?

NUT SHOT!

2.)

Bo Pelini is, by my judgement, a pretty good football coach.  Even so, his win total has not been outstanding, though certainly not bad either:

Overall 54–22
Bowls 3–3

No, what has really hurt Pelini is his interaction with the Cornhusker fanbase.  Many have always felt that Pelini had one foot out the door since he got to Nebraska, and a tape that was secretely recorded and released earlier this year seemed to confirm that somewhat when Pelini was talking about “seeing how the fans felt when he left” following a huge win over Ohio State from a few seasons ago.  That, coupled with a lack of Big Ten championships, has left the faithful a bit restless in Nebraska.

Nebraska fans may be ready to tell Ol’ Bo happy hollidays sooner rather than later

And last but not least (first place, in fact, in the lunch line)

Charlie Wies has fielded teams that are just flat out bad.  In his time at Kansas, he is just 3-16, with no signs of improvement on the horizon.  There is little hope that he will turn it around at Kansas, and we will be a bit surprised if he survives into next season.  Weis is a terrific offensive coordinator, and he will be unemployed for about five minutes if/when he gets fired, but as a head coach he has just not gotten it done.
