Iowa State leads the conference @ 7-1, its only loss to Oklahoma State, 24-21, in Stillwater. The Cyclones have one game to play, @ home vs West Virginia (5-3). If ISU wins their in, if they lose and OU & OSU win out, let the fun begin!
If ISU loses to WV on Saturday and Oklahoma (Baylor @ Home and WV on the road) & Oklahoma State (@ TCU & @ Baylor) winning their last 2 games. we would have 3 teams tied @ 7-2 in conference play.
To determine who would get into the championship game, the first tie breaker is head to head. This will get us no-where as these teams are 1-1 vs one another. Here is what went down; OU beat OSU, 41-13 & lost to ISU, 37-30; ISU beat OU, 37-30 lost to OSU, 24-21; and OSU beat ISU, 24-21 lost to OU, 41-13! You got it, its mess!
So what now? The Big 12’s second tie breaker is how the three teams did vs the 4th rated team in the conference. If Texas wins out, they would finish 6-3 and in 4th place in the B-12 standings. So it would come down to how ISU, OSU & OU did vs the Horns? OU beat Texas, 53-45 in 3 OT’s, OSU lost to Texas, 41-34 in OT, and ISU beat Texas, 23-20, in regulation!
So if this were to come to fruition, the B-12 Championship Game would be between OU & ISU!
One final thought; Oklahoma plays at West Virginia on 12/12 and if the Mountaineers were to beat the Sooners, then OU would be out & its ISU vs OSU in the championship game!
