Some facts about week one’s selections

  • The SEC has 7 Teams in the 1st ranking, including the #1 & #2 ranked teams (UGA & Bama)
  • The B-10 has the 2nd most ranked teams, 6, and the B-10 also has 2 teams in the top 6 (#3 Spartans & #5 Bucks)
  • The SEC & B-10 have over half the field (13 of 25)!
  • The ACC has 3 teams, the B-12 has 3, & PAC 12 has 1 team
  • The Group of 5 has 3 teams, Cincinnati from the American Athletic and Fresno State & San Diego State from the Mountain West!
  • The Independents have placed 2 in the initial CFP rankings; ND & BYU!
  • Five (5) of the top (8) teams have to play another team in the top 8!
  • 1) Ohio State has to play MSU & Michigan, 2) UGA will likely meet Bama in the SEC Championship, although Auburn may have a say in who gets to that game vs Georgia (the Dawgs Have already won the East Division of the SEC) if they beat A&M Saturday, 3) Michigan hosts Ohio State & Michigan State travels to Columbus to take on the Buckeyes!
  • Oregon & Cincinnati do not play a ranked team for the remainder of the season! This will more than likely hurt them via strength of schedule!
  • OU is in a much better spot then their #8 ranking indicates, since many of the teams in front of them play one another and the Sooner schedule (#11 Baylor & #12 Oklahoma State) will help them, if they win out!! They can/could/will jump an undefeated Cincy or even a one loss Oregon!
