Some interesting results were:

  • Notre Dame 45 Pitt 3: Many predicted that the Panthers would upset the Irish and most thought the game would be close. No one envisioned a 42 point romp by the Irish.
  • Northwestern 43 Maryland 3: Maryland recruits better than Wisconsin, let alone NW. The Terrapins are the 29th best recruiting program in the FBS, while Bucky is ranked 31st! Northwestern has the 51st best roster in college football and a 40 point win here was shocking! http://sullyscollegefootballpage.com/content.cfm?PageID=14
  • Rutgers 38 Michigan State 27: The Scarlet Knights had not won a B-10 game since a, 34-27. win over Maryland, on 11/04/17! The Knights had lost 21 straight games in B-10 play. Their 11 point victory over MSU and the 7 turnovers they forced against the Spartans was a great well come back celebration for the program & Coach Schiano!
  • Indiana 36 PSU 35 (OT): The biggest ‘say what’ of the day was the Hoosiers win, @ home, vs the Nittany Lions. Everyone was talking about the massive showdown, in the B-10, in week 2, OSU @ PSU. Nobody was talking about a Hoosier win over the Lions; some thought it could be close, as they believed that Penn State might be looking ahead the Buckeye game. IU allowed State to score on a run they did not oppose. That score put PSU up 8 points inside of 2 minutes. The Hoosiers scored at the end of regulation and converted the 2 point conversion to force OT. IU then won the game in overtime, by going for 2 when they found themselves down a point. Clearly, the day’s best game!
  • Auburn 35 Ole Miss 28: Auburn, for the 2nd time in a 3 week period, won a game on a missed call! First, they beat Arkansas, 30-28, on spiked ball that was, in fact, a backward pass, the “hogs’ recovered the fumble and should have been awarded the ball. A couple of plays later the Tigers kicked the winning FG, when the ball should have been Arkansas’! This past week, Ole Miss had taken a 28-27 lead with just over 5 minutes to play. On the ensuing kickoff, an Auburn player touched the ball as it made its way into the end zone, a ball that was recovered by the Rebels. Clearly, this should have made the score 35-27, Ole Miss, with just over 5 minutes to play! Coach Malzahn is living a charmed life in 2020! This week they play LSU, Gus better wear 2 lucky charm bracelets this time!
  • Alabama 47 Tennessee 17: Two points of interest from this game; 1) Saban has now won 23 straight games vs his former assistants & 2) James Waddle, Bama’s all everything WR, broke his ankle on the opening kickoff!
