PAC 12: Standings, Results, and Remaining Games

Conference Standings (sullyscollegefootballpage.com)

The PAC-12 has entered the college football dance floor at the 11th hour and really are an after-thought to make the CFP in 2020. Their best teams, record wise, are Washington, 3-0, USC, 3-0, & Colorado, 3-0! That said, Oregon is widely regarded as the best team in the conference, however, they were upset by in-sate rival, Oregon State last week, 41-39. This loss and the lack of games, leaves the PAC 12, a long shot, & at best, unlikely, to play their way into the CFP top four.

A quick review of the 3 undefeated teams and their remaining games, does not help the situation.

This week’s game between Washington State & USC, has been moved to Sunday, December 6 and SC may have to play w/o their staring QB, Kedon Slovis (Covid). After Sunday, the Trojans have one game to play, @ cross-town rival, UCLA. They do have a shot to go 5-0, heading into their championship weekend.

The PAC 12, like the B-10, is playing a divisional round-robin. The 1st place teams in the North & South Divisions will meet for the championship, while the 2nd place teams will play, as will the 3rd place teams and so on through 6th place!

Washington hosts Stanford this week (12/5), a team they will likely beat, however, in week 15,the Huskies have to travel to Oregon and be asked to climb Mount Olympus. It is more then likely that the Ducks will knock UW from the ranks of the unbeaten in week 15!

Colorado beat San Diego State, 20-10, in a non-conference game last week, leaving the Buffalos with a chance to finish the season 5-0 (4-0 in conference play). Here’s how, they travel to Arizona (0-3), a team that has yet to win a game in 2020 and then host Utah (0-2), another winless team in 2020. However, it should be noted that the Utes two losses are to USC, 33-17 & Washington, 24-21 (2 unbeaten teams) and that Utah is quiet capable of ending the Buffs undefeated 2020 run!

In all likelihood, the PAC 12 championship game will be played between a 5-0 USC and 5-1 Oregon. The Ducks play Cal (0-3) this weekend and as mentioned, host UW on Dec. 12th! USC, at 6-0, would give the PAC 12 their best shot to get into the CFP, yet not a good shot! Six games is, simply, not enough!

The Champion of the PAC 12 will play in a New Year’s Six Bowl!
